Some of my favorite things to share are homemade remedies. Instead of immediately popping pills as we're accustomed to, there are tons of great tricks you can try out first. This one is excellent for muscle aches, pains and sprains. It can ease pain, reduce inflammation and hasten healing. Whether you hurt your wrist working out or slipped on a patch of ice and twisted your ankle, this remedy will work for all types of minor injuries.
Grate a whole fresh ginger root (at least 4" long) into a large soup pot half full of water, then boil the water for 30 minutes. Strain out the solids. Roll up a hand towel and soak through with the ginger water. Place the hot towel on the injured area and hold there until it begins to cool down. Unroll the towel to expose another hot part and once again press onto the injured area. Continue unrolling and pressing until your towel is no longer hot. Then re-soak the towel and repeat the whole process again for a total time of approximately 30 minutes.
